Good battle. I have set myself the challenge of completing the entire game in only 1 type of ship (except for the first couple of missions and mandated sub missions). Doing is in a battleship and a carrier was very easy. Currently trying to do it all in a cruiser is hard even on easy mode. I had to resort to just throwing contact mines directly at Harima to put her down. God help me when I have to do everything in a destroyer... If you ever do another replay of this game Id love to see if you can beat the game in only a cruiser or destroyer.

I love this game but with what I know now about actual ships the designs that you can do are highly unrealistic. Like your triple barrel 12.7cm guns. All in all it was a fun game.

I think what got you on attempt 6 is a Railgun. The models on the Druna/Wolkenkratzer don’t turn, however, she can fire her rail guns to her sides and even slightly behind her (I don’t know about directly astern.) A few seconds before you got killed you can see a blue Railgun round that missed you. Wolkenkratzer likely fired again and got you with the Railgun. It’s happened to me before as well. The best way to avoid it is to stay at an even farther range, as although it has a longer range than the Wolken’s lasers it’s still outreached by 61cm and 80cm guns.

Harima took me forever the first time I fought her (I had four twin 41cm guns, can’t remember if I had any auto reload.) Thankfully Harima’s main guns fire very slowly, but they’re DEVASTATING if they hit as they’re 80cm-100cm in WSG2 depending on difficulty. Also, in the ~7 moths since I’ve first seen it I’ve always wondered what that buried superweapon would have been if it were activated.

If i had to go back in time and decide when and how i got into military history i have to point towards this game, as well as Seek and Destroy. by far the most fun and replayable games ive ever come across in my 22 years id love to see 2024 remakes for such amazing games, also thank you for the playthrough so i can re-experience this game when im at an age where i can reflect and feel nostalgia <3

H- how!?!? I beat Leviathan about two weeks ago, but she gave me more trouble than WSG1’s Druna Skass. Granted, you’ve clearly got a way better auto-reload system on your ship but I’m still shocked just how easily you beat Leviathan. Do the different story paths effect difficulty? I did Brawn’s path for my EL1 play through so I could play more submarine missions. 😂 I also have the JP version of the game so that could have effected the fight. Speaking of the JP version, I’m impressed how similar the dialogue is in the ENG version. Also, those missiles that Nagi mentions are a mixture of multi-warhead missiles and cruise missiles. I had to replenish my chaff grenade ammo before the fight was over.

So it's been 3 years now and I help myself trying a few games on pcsx2 and found this old gem. Good video mate. Oh! I just found out that thermal vision can help during bad weather engagement, thou the enhanced digital vision will become my number one option once avail.

Getting the wave gun then going back to kill the supership that pissed you off so badly for no reason other than spite. Probably the most beautiful moment in this whole playthrough. You sir are a true legend lol.

Congratulations of your achievement in sinking the Amaterasu. Probably the finest performance I have seen anyone do in that battle. For such an under gunned ship that was a masterclass in how to kick a supership's arse. You genuinely got a little salute at that victory. I dont know why, but you did lol.

Halo I'm curious. In all your Naval Ops Commander shenanigans, have you ever built a ship that could outrun a Wirblewind class cruiser? I did just to see if it could be done and it was weird watching Wirblewind trying and failing to run away from me. My friend playing the Benny Hill theme on his phone made the battle a lot funnier than it had any right to be lol.

The Anti-Air VLS missile system can also be used to destroy land targets that are out of range of regular weapon shenanigans. I don't know if that was intended but either way its a good way to get extra range when theres a land structure that needs taking care of.

Battlecruisers were battleships with the speed of a cruiser but sacrificed armour to achieve that speed. HMS Hood was most definitely a battlecruiser. Your USS Andrew Montgomery is a heavy cruiser.

Dual Crater is an absolute joke of a boss. You can deal with him easily with a destroyer equipped with that 127mm Rapid Fire Cannon. Kicking Dual Crater to death over and over again is a good way to farm money.

You will desperately need 3 EM Shield ships to escort you for your first slap fight against Brillodein.

Also HaloNewbie014 I know this playthrough is years old but since its a very valuable source of guidance to players who enjoy this game I will give you (and everyone else) a tip. You can get an S rank very easily if you replace your escorts with supply ships and just make sure they survive the mission. Either drop them of at a safe location or keep them with you in vertical formation and be quick about crushing the enemies you face.

The mission you mention about farming transport kills in Warship gunner 1 is Mission A4 "Duck Shoot". The goal is to sink 15 transports but there are 34 of them to have your way with. I used it to get many kill reward. in just 10 hours I had killed 999 transports, 100 cruisers, not far off 500 destroyers. I also got more then enough cash to push every tech category except air tech well past level 14. All you need its a 40 knot destroyer with a heavy torpedo loadout and the most efficient route throughout the map. Another thing I recommend is farming the A3 mission to get the 100 sub kills reward.

Loving this series. Be grateful you were not forced to pick a fight with Nautilus after you were done kicking Dreadnaught to death. That sub is a colossal pain in the aft.

I remember liking aircraft catapults and He 115 in Warship Gunner and Commander. The latter was pretty handy as a torpedo bomber. Sadly Koei then nerfed it into a regular bomber in Warship Gunner 2.

I agree that your destroyer could be classified as a light cruiser. The Atlanta class light cruiser had 16 5” (12.7cm) guns. Furthermore, your ship has protection against 15cm (5.9”) guns which is almost always cruiser caliber with the exception ironically being some classes of German destroyers such as the Type 1936A class.
